Leon, thanks for your encouraging comments. I had previously looked at your butterfly shot (excellent by the way), and agree taking pictures of these creatures is much harder than it first appears. I also experienced windy conditions with everything moving around, and the butterflies only opened their wings for short periods when things calmed down, as you say, good timing is called for. By the way, I think you're right, your butterfly is probably a Monarch.
