A carpenter ant enjoying a bit of aphid juice. Sorry the depth of field couldn't be better, but this setup only allows a paper thin DOF. you probably don't want more graphic.

Well done Loren, I know how difficult it is to get more DOF but you did well here..Detail at the mouth is just great..

Thank you Fons. Actually this is a photo I just re-discovered in my pc from about a year ago. I believe the DOF with this setup is less than 1mm.

Jens, I had no idea anything was in his mouth. He was moving a lot and it was a big challenge just to get the ant in focus. I didn't see the aphid until I looked at the digital copy. The timing was just lucky. As you can imagine, I discarded lot of out- of-focus shots.
