there is an uneven dark shade on the center top of the image. did you use a circular polarizer? circular polarizers dont work well with wide angle lenses. if u used a 14mm here then that may be the reason. with a wide angle lens you are sweeping a such wide expanse so the polarizing effect will vary greatly from end to end.

I see what you mean. The filter is a 58mm circular.
What type should you use with the 14-45mm lens?

Hi Kiffin,

just try to avoid using circular PL on wide angles.(14mm on ur lens or 28mm equivalent of 35mm format is a moderate wide angle already) use it on medium telephoto instead, i think it would be ok.
for ultra wide angle lenses, it is not really advisable to use circ PL's. thats as far as my experience is concerned.

A lovely desert scene which is well composed, I find using a Graduated Neutral Density filter very useful for balancing a bright sky with the foreground and would be ideally suited in a situation like this.

I have been investigating this stuff lately, and it tunrs out that Tiffen actually makes a circular polarised lens for wide angle shots (which is avaliable in size 58mm). According to the people i asked the regular circular polar should be fine for any shots above a focal length of 20mm... but is is something to look into. I have no personal experience with either yet, so can't give you any observations of my own, just wanted to mention that another option is out there...
On a differnt note, i like the picture, and think that it's nice, regardless of the darker sky in the middle top area... nice job.
