Cedar Wax Wings
I happened to glance out the kitchen window this afternoon and caught ~30 Cedar Wax Wings devouring the fruit off one of the loquat trees in the backyard. They were polite enough to allow me to swap lenses for an afternoon shoot. Then they continued to gorge themselves while I took 100+ photos - under less than desirable conditions. We had a heavy cloud cover this afternoon and the the long end of the zoom lens only has a maximum aperture of f-4.5, which meant rather low shutter speeds - even with relatively high ISO. I began shooting at ISO 200, but then switched to ISO 400.

Cedar Wax Wings
G'Day Mike:
Thanks very much, and don't get me wrong; it was a fun shoot. I would have taken another hundred photos or more, but all of a sudden - POOF! The birds vanished.
I looked around wondering what in the world had spooked them. Then, as I looked around I saw the fluffy black tail of a young cat I know quite well. Another mystery solved.
Ciao!

G'Day Natasha:
Thank you very much.
It appears this little fellow doesn't play well with others. There was plenty of fruit to share; maybe this fellow woke up on the wrong side of the branch ;-)
Ciao!

G'Day Fons:
Thanks again; looks like one birdie has a lot to say and the other birdie doesn't want to hear it ;-)
