Very nice Ricardo. This seems to be a single light source image? If another flash unit is available may I suggest to try 2:1 ratio for fill or as an alternate use mixed light for separation from BG. Remember reflector boards also do the trick for fill. Good stuff.

Thanks for your suggestion, in fact I took this picture in outdoors. I used the FL-20 with the wire FL-CB05 to create a lateral lighting effect, but I did not have any reflector to fill some shadows. Usually when I take this kind of macro pictures in outdoors, I use to set the camera in a high speed and the flash in Manual to create a black background. I have tried with two flash but still I have not success to get some nice results... I must try again. Thanks again and best regards, Ricardo

Hi again Ricardo, a couple of thoughts. First since you shot this outside, you could try using ambient light as main source and since you want a darker BG underexpose and use your flash as fill/kicker light or something that I have carried in my camera bag for well over 35 years is a folded potato chip bag, the kind made of Mylar! This works wonderfully as a fill reflector for small objects. Another tip; you know the little bottles that lens cleaning fluid comes in? Well when it?s empty, fill it with glycerine. Glycerine photographs clearer then water, doesn?t roll and is perfect for adding a few drops of ?dew? to flowers!
