Steve, I like the B/W version better than the color. It's only a personal preference. It's a good shot.

Like Lee I prefer the B/W version. What I wondered about that version was the amount of postprocessing but it was worth while - I didn't manage in a single step with gimp!

Thanks Kiffin, Lee and Udo for your comments, I also prefer the B&W version but posted the colour one so it could be compared, using several raw conversions and then blending them is quite time consuming but I think produces a superior result as you can target certain tones and areas it also minimises the amount of dodging and burning required too. I've only just started to use this method of conversion so with more practice and experience should reduce the amount of time it takes to get the final result.
