Redpoll look out!

This is the usual way the Redpoll (Carduelis flammea) sits when feeding on the alder conifers (Alnus glutinosa).

This one is very weary at this moment and looks out to see what made a strange noise. (I mimicked a squirrel.)

They are very active and it is hard to catch them with the eye positioned in the shallow DOF produced by this lens.

Cheers, Jens

Hi Udo

you asked:
> How many tries?

Totally about 100 shots, and out of the 50 sharp ones, only 13 had a catchlight.

Cheers, Jens.

Thanks...

Shelley, Fons, Sergey, Bevellee Olga, Udo, and Bevellee, for the nice comments.

And Shelley... it takes some effort to take these kinds of bird photos - at least for me.

Cheers to all of you! Jens.
