the music room at Shibden Hall, a preserved Tudor house. I freely admit to some serious processing in this image which was a 1/5 sec exposure (thank you IS).

Processing applied: This was a single image processed through Luminance HDR software followed by noise-reduction then with a slight Orton Effect added plus unsharp mask.
Various: This was a hand-held 1/5 sec exposure in quite a dark room. I was squatting on the floor with my back jammed against the door frame to minimise movement. I was amazed how sharp this turned out (thanks to IS !)

Great

Mike,
I really like this image. You have captured the warm colors of the wood and enhanced the period feel. the remaining noise is not a distraction but an indication to the viewer of the low light ambiance.

NO SUBJECT

Thanks Mark. Maybe I will post a less processed image for comparison.

Nice photo, but...

One of the final steps in processing an HDR shot such as this one should be noise reduction. A little noise is fine, but here is it terribly distracting.

OK Mark, I take your point. In my defence I will say that this was in my early days experimenting with HDR (did my first one a few weeks earlier!). Following your comment I have done several versions with noise-reduction in Noiseware and although it does produce a smoother picture, it also loses some wood-grain detail so I guess it's all a compromise!
Thanks for the comment, anyway - it's good to get feedback and all helps to improve our technique.
