Depth of field

Louis,
I like the crisp blacks in your photos. Your description lists an f/stop of 3.2 which I would expect a much smaller depth of field. Yet, it appears the entire scene is in focus, which I would expect from a smaller aperature (ie f/16). Maybe due to the lens focal length?

Mark,
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, and that f/stop of 3.2 is not a mistake. Don't know if you are familiar with any of the Olympus Camedia cameras, but the c-5050 only has an aperture range of 1.8 to 8.0. I was either in shutter priority or auto mode when I took this photo so the camera chose that f/stop. I got that camera out today and took some shots of vistas and landscapes. In auto and landscape modes the camera consistently chose a setting of 4.0 and the depth of field looked decent. In aperture priority mode I took some bracketed shots and got best results at f/5.6. F/8 did not show any improvement. Perhaps someone who knows about the lenses and sensors in these cameras has an explanation for how such a depth of field is attained when the aperture is this open. I am still in kindergarten in the school of photography. Thanks again!
