Views of our local church 2
At Slettebakken, Bergen, Norway our local church is to be found. The construction is futuristic and modern made in concrete, glass and metal. The shape is inspired by a sailing boat. Many people are a bit disturbed, provoked or upset by this, they want the church to be a warm, nice and comforting place. Not something looking like something industrial place. I guess they much prefer the traditional way of churches. Myself, I find the architects to be brave and this has given me quite some ideas for contemplation and meditation over the subject like shown.

Not sure what you were trying to do with this shot Olav. I don't like the treatment, it looks very unnatural. Sorry.

Re: Dave...
Well Dave, must a photo always look natural?
This one caught your interest and made you write a comment.
I guess that is a proof for that your attention was captured in some way and you responded. If not my guess is that you would completely ignore it for not being interesting at all….
Yes, it is abstract and holds its own story.

What is the story behind this photo and why did you choose this processing?

Thank you for showing interest about these shots.
This church is made of concrete, glass and metall. Is it futuristic and postmodern inspired by the shape of a sailing boat.
The walls are not painted or treated in any way, so they might seem a bit naked and raw.
when this church is approached from south its upon a small hill, elevated out of the surroundings and scenery.
But it's so cold...
This inspired me to try to make it more warm and up lighten. This is a place for meting God you know.
I shot wide open at iso 3200, + 3 EV. I used an artistic filter (soft light) to make it glow out of the dark in the winter night.
I also did a light solarization in Photoshop and tweaked the levels a bit.
The result? Well something completely different for me.
You see, I mostly don't abstract...
