Also called Herpestidae by scientific name, Mongooses are small carnivorans found in southern Asia, Africa, and southern Europe, as well as some Caribbean and Hawaiian islands. The mongoose has a similar appearance to the weasel, despite not being closely related. This creature, shot in my back yard was around 3 feet in length.
