July has been too sunny (and hot) to enjoy photographying outdoors so there has been time to fool with found objects at home. There are majiang (mah-jong) tiles, modern Yixing teapot of Ming design, a copy of Shanghai Daily and a tourist map of Olde Peking. Majiang tiles are beautifully made faux antique. They look and feel old but Arabic numbers and Latin letters expose the plot. EP-2 has a half case of Italian leather made by Korean Jnk-handworks on it. For fourthirds users there is a hidden "secret message" in photo;)

Aesthetically speaking this "still life" is probably too crowded but I was just playing.

Almost forgot - itīs a HDR of 5 exposures.

Well done!

Hi Pekka,
Really nice still life picture. I usually hate HDR, but your processing here renders a very natural output that nobody would think is HDR...

Nice touch the secret message ;)

Kind regards.,
Jes.

NO SUBJECT

Hello Jes.
Actually I dislike most HDRs too and I havenīt used it very often although I purchase Photomatix almost a year ago.
With this photo I was quite satisfied with the results and really almost forgot that it isa HDR.
The problem with current HDR software is that it is more difficult to obtain natural looking results than unnatural.
And if one wants to create oversaturated-psychedelic-expressionistic photos that too is easier with any image editing program even without special hdr program.
Best regards, Pekka
