Still used by the White Pass Railway in Skagway, Alaska to clear snow..

White Pass Snow Fleet
Per the historical sign at this site:
Though this snow thrower was restored in Winter of 1995 and restored to service April 26, 1996, "snow is removed by a fleet of bulldozers, infinitely more efficient - but far less romantic than the glorious days of Steam."

Thanks for your comments John.... agree a fleet of bulldozers are likely far more efficient, but I don't know if bulldozers could be moved into many areas of the White Pass Rail System. When we visited in the spring of 2006 the rail line was hit by a late avalanch and my understanding was this machine was put into service to do the initial clearing prior to heavy equipment being moved in to do the final clean-up and repairs...
