Photograped at Kingsbury Water Park, Warwickshire UK. This was taken very late on in the afternoon, hence the long shadows. Went for the square format as it allowed me to leave in the twig casting the shadow and to put the birds eye on a ROT point.

Many thans for the comments. I suppose I was no more than 10 - 12 feet away, and almost at eye level. Originally the image was landscape format, but the centre section you see is the size it came out of the cam. Because the sun was so low, i had to do some post processing to get more detail from the shadowed area of the head. I am new to bird photography and using new equipment so its all a bit of a learning curve. The trouble is I tend to be super critical of my own work and therby end up with lots of images that dont quite make the grade - But that's the nature of the beast I suppose.
