The repeating pattern and the beautiful colouring on the vaulting of the Lady Chapel caught a beam of afternoon sunshine.

Beautiful shot! The curved lines are so sharp and clean. It amazes me how these magnificent cathedrals were built on such a grand scale, by artisans using equipment that modern builders would find hopelessly inadequate.

I've recently read Ken Follett's novel, "The Pillars of the Earth", and am now starting its sequel, "World without End", about the building of a massive medieval cathedral and the lives of the people in the area surrounding it. If you love these structures and enjoy reading, I highly recommend these two books!
