This adult osprey cruised by directly over my head last time out on the prairie - oh-my.

G'Day Syed:
Thanks for you kind words. The osprey approached from my right and its wingtips almost filled my viewfinder (top to bottom). I figured it would be a more aesthetic view if it appeared the osprey was flying from top to bottom, or from bottom to top, which is what I finally opted to post. The truth be known, I was most fortunate to capture this image as I was very preoccupied with a lot of activity on ground level of the prairie.
Ciao!

G'Day Karen:
Thank you ever so much. As I mentioned to Syed I was not really prepared for this shot. I'd been shooting some rather large gators and was bracketing (0.0 / +0.3 / +0.7) and happened to capture this shot of the osprey on the '0.0' setting, which underexposed the underside of the osprey quite a bit indeed (~2 f-stops)). It took a good deal of post processing (primarily increasing brightness and contrast, then some some increasing of color saturation) to get the exposure in this posting. Unfortunately, in the process the brilliant blue (dare I say cobalt blue?) sky ended up getting rather washed out (sigh ... ).

G'Day Shelley!
Thank you so very much for your kind words and high rating. Coming from someone with your 'eye' and shooting talent that means a great deal.
I must tell you that when I first saw the black silhouette (which resembled a vulture) I considered deleting the photo-file at very first glance. then after a little tweaking I thought - maybe this might be salvageable, and as it turns out, it was.
Ideally, had I been prepared for this shot, I would have had my EV setting for: +2.0. I only wish I could have captured the bird as it is in its final version - AND - the bright (cobalt) blue sky, which was glorious that day.
Ciao!
