Pearls in the sky
"Mother of pearl clouds" is a phenomenon that appears occasional in this part of the world in the wintertime. It is quit a sight and the colours are beautiful. A nice holyday to you all.

Wow, what a phenomenon Torvald ! Also thanks for the discription, I guess we all forget that what's "normal" to us is quite out of the ordinary to others. Only critique might be to have a little horizon to show scale, but still lovely. The very best wishes of the season to you and yours also.

An interesting cloud formation - is it due to very high clouds catching the sun, and low clouds not catching it?
Do you find the cold weather a problem for the E300 or the battery?

You are of course right about the missing horizon. It would have put some perspective in to the image. I cropped it away because I tought it was to dark.

Thank you Mike for your comments.
As far as I have found out, it is vapor and asid high up in the stratosphere that refract the light from a low sun (below the horizon).
I have had no problems with the camera in cold weather, but I guess I have to be out in the cold for a longer period to experience this kind of problems.
