May I have one question? - Are these pine trees behind? Is it the Andes, isn't it?

Many thanks Ane.
Yes!! I took this photo in the Andes (in Venezuela), and the trees behind the lake, are unfortunately Pines. I say unfortunately, because the Pines are not native in the tropical mountains in Latinoamerica. Many years ago, maybe 45 years, some forestry engineers decided to plant pines in the P?ramos ecosystems (p?ramos is the name given for the people in Latin America, for this kind of high mountain ecosystems). They wanted to "clone" here the Alpine landscapes. This kind of paramo vegetation exist only in Venezuela, Colombia and the north of Ecuador, above 2800 - 3000 meters high. Of course it is also possible to find equivalent ecosystems, in the high mountains of tropical Africa and Asia.
Sorry for my long explanation...but I am biologist :) I will continue my answer in another e-mail. Best regards,
Ricardo
