An amazing photograph, this one. You managed to give it the quality of an oil painting. The viewer finds so much to discover here, with all he different picture layers, including the pictures within the pictures and the reflection of nature, the subject of the paintings. What you are doing here is more like renaissance painting than modern photography, (less is more, bang, bang...) There is a stillness to this space that puzzles me. There is so much going on, it is a very busy picture, but somehow, by overlapping these layers and because of the pastel quality of the light and reflections, the space becomes unreal, removed from everyday reality into a mysterious realm. In a way it is as if the painter just left the studio, shirt flung over the chair, a plate and utensils left on the table, but because of this otherworldly quality of the picture, it leaves time and space, as if it were a set or a room in a museum. You can tell, this image really captivates me... you also managed to evoke the same naturalistic style the paintings display, which further ads to the intensity. Thank you for the experience! This one needs to be framed and displayed prominently.

A great shot Tom, it looks as if a lot of post processing has gone on, but as you say none at all! I thought you would be in the reflections somewhere but I can't find you.

thank you Shelley for the info regarding Tom Thomon and the Group of Seven. As a European, I was not aware of his work. Will check it out now.

I took this shot with simple glass reflections to bring the forest into the studio.

This is straight from the Camera card, no Photoshop at all or cropping for that matter.

Tom Thomson was my personal favourite of the Group of Seven.

Tom Thomson (1877-1917) is considered one of the most important and influential early Canadian artists. Together with members of the Group of Seven, he created a distinct approach to portraying rugged Canadian landscapes.

Considered by art historian, Dennis Reid, to still be approaching the fullness of his artistic powers, Tom Thomson died sometime between July 8, when he was last seen, and July 17, 1917, when his body was recovered. The cause of death was recorded as drowning.

He was buried at Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park.
