There where mosaics from the Roman Empire the had dig out.

Yes. the Romans were master craftsmen!
Yet I like Art nouveau also very much. They use very intensive colours (no wonder, its 2000 years younger ...).
Some day I'm going to upload pictures from stained glass windows in the cathedral of Fribourg (Switzerland) which are in Art nouveau style. This is also an example for using old techniques in an impressive new way ....
