Thanks Adrie for the comment .....
The light was just there , the Pelican was sitting a site off a little pond surrounded with tree's the background very dark as you see.....The sun from behind my back , maybe that lighten up the Pelican...I like this shot myself also very much...;-)

Shelley ,
This is one of those lucky shots that turn out perfect with out doing much postprocessing.
The natural black background was there also....
Thanks very much for the comment and rating.....;-)

You always take such nice shots! Fons, is there some wild-life refuge near your house that pass by on your way out?

Thank you very much Sergey for the comment.
No there is no wild-life refuge near my house, there are lots off animals in the area but this picture was not taken here.
Sometimes you have to go too different places, to take shots like this.
I wish it was so , stepping on my way out to walk in a wild-life refuge.
Well there is nothing wrong with visiting other places also isn't it..
Best regards and thanks again...;-)

Hi Fons,
Great image. Sharpness and crispness go witthout saying. What I'm impressed of is yhe feeling created by the composition and the dark BG. Nice work.

Wonderful shot Fons. It always amazes me the colour variation in this breed of bird across the world. Ours are black and white (except when they are young and the black part is a dark brown/grey). I've never seen one with these colour tonings. Regards, Ingrid

Yeah how amazing it is how animals and birds from the same kind look different in other parts of the world..
Never thought about that but it seems to be...
