Great Photo!
Composition, colors, and focus all masterfully done. A wonderful work of art.

Truly superb
You've really excelled with this one, Bruce. Care to tell us how you got the shot? Especially with a 25mm lens!

Hello Jim...
I was walking along the sidewalk on a rainy morning, in a little town in Colorado. I walked past this hummingbird that was sitting on the branch in a little garden that was planted in planters just outside a retail shop, along the sidewalk.
I walked past, then realized what I had just seen, and took a few steps backwards to have another look.
Just walked right up with the E-500 and 25mm pancake lens, switched to A mode, and set the cloudy white balance, and went in close (slowly). The bird didn't seem alarmed at all, he shifted around a bit but didn't fly away, and he let me make a few shots.
People around me (many people had missed the bird, walked right passed him) then saw what I was doing, and came along to shoot. Had a small crowd in a few minutes. When I went on my way, the bird was still on the branch, "posing" for a bunch of people.
I could easily have missed him too, but luckily, he caught my eye as I walked past that first time.
It was "all luck".

Really excellent! And that's how I often feel in the morning, feathers puffed up, sort of grumpy! LOL

Absolutely wonderful! Beautifully sharp and apart from the great pose of the bird, the blue flower gives some colour variation to relieve the green. Lovely detail in the plumage.

Outstanding shot
Bruce, a perfect shot, the sharpness of the hummingbird against the perfect bokeh of the background and the right placement of each of the pieces in the picture make it a masterwork.
Sincere congratulations.
Jes.
