This is an ornamental banana flower. This type of banana does not produce edible fruit, but instead quite spectacular flowers. This one was taken in bright sunlight in our front yard. It also illustrates an issue with the E-620. I took a number of photos in slightly better light, all shot on a tripod - all were not sharp. Very annoying! Couldn't figure out why until I finally remembered that to get sharp photos when on a tripod, you have to turn off the image stabilization! Then, in not-so-good light, got a sharp shot.
