SPOT metering! Where was the spot!?
Great color and natural composition, I would have increased contrast (just a personal taste) Also a portrait frame might have also worked.

I like this very much but it is a very busy picture! I like the suggestion of a portrait format - such a crop will make the picture much tighter and exclude some of the fussy stuff.

re framing
Thanks for the comments guys..framing would definitely enhance the shot..
the subjects were actually posing for another photographer so I grasped the opportunity!! Using my olympus 50-200 zoom

I agree that the backround is quite busy, but then you have to understand that the area was full of people and the photographer didn't have a very large aperture lens available. I think Dale did the best possible under the circumstances. You may have noticed that the subjects are perfectly in focus while the rest of the image is more or less out of focus. And by the way, great colours and light.
I wonder if it would have been possible to postprocess the image to blur the background.
