North central Florida is overrun by these pint-sized dragons who spend their days protecting humankind from various biting insects. This photo was taken in heavy shade on an otherwise bright sunny day in July of 2005.

It's little wonder anoles are called chameleons by some. This variety is typically a solid light brown color; the females are slightly smaller and have diamond like figures that run along most of their spine. This male has switched 'on' a grainy texture with some mottling and banding.
