Karen Jack There's No Escape!

Not sure if this is a Water Vole or Water Rat the Grey Heron's snatched. The Heron must've heard the poor little creature from the other side of the river. Slowly he made his way across, stalking the little animal. With a lightning quick thrust of that lethal beak, (the little thing gave a few squeaks of distress) the Heron dunked the animal a couple of times in the river (I think it was bashing the little Vole against the rocks) and this was all over within seconds. Not nice to watch, but in the wild if you're caught sleeping you've had it!
