Jens Birch Redpoll look out! This is the usual way the Redpoll (Carduelis flammea) sits when feeding on the alder conifers (Alnus glutinosa).

This one is very weary at this moment and looks out to see what made a strange noise. (I mimicked a squirrel.)

They are very active and it is hard to catch them with the eye positioned in the shallow DOF produced by this lens.
