I recently saw your other photo of a similar subject (with the Sigma lens) and they are impressive shots. The light and shadows add a nice effect here. Is the bokeh just blurred grass? I recently purchased the Zuiko 70-300mm and I hope to use it for birds as much as possible. This photo makes me want get started...thanks!

Hi Adam,

The 70-300 mm is a very nice lens. It's not very expensive and shows fine results. It's not very heavy (like the Sigma) and the AF is very quick so for taking animal shots from a distance (but not too far) it's a very good lens. Don't expect top-level, but as you can see, the sharpness and bokeh are fine. This is a crop of course and that bokeh is grass, the bird was sitting on a peace of tree on the ground. These birds are part of a bird-farm, they fly around free, but are accustomed to people, so taking these photos was a bit easier than usual. With a 300mm it will be quite difficult to get pictures like this from wild birds of prey...
