Shot earlier today: This GBH had just snatched this small gar from a canal in Paynes Prairie not far from where I was standing (see: GBH - 13). It then flew to the other side of the waterway where it must have felt a bit less threatened. Once the fish was relatively lifeless it took the long (one-way) slide down the gullet.

GBH -14

Leon,

Good action shot, I know how hard it is to get a result like this! Unfortunately the top of the wing is cropped. keep up the good work.

Kindest Regards: Peter

Great Blue Heron - 14 - re-visited:

Peter -

Thanks so much. I knew from experience that once this GBH had gotten a fish it would fly to the other side of the waterway so I was somewhat prepared to keep shooting; unfortunately, I forgot to switch the focusing from 'S' single to 'C' continuous focusing - oh, well. As for the cropping - it was either the tip of the wing or the tip of a toe or two. I opted for the wing tip.
