This male pintail (Anas acuta) shows off his new plumage that he acquired for this spring to attract a nice little ducky mate.

Picture taken a couple of weeks ago in Ueno koen, Tokyo, Japan.

Nice to see some pictures again from you Jens.
This Duck is not common in our waters, it lookes like or maybe it is family from the Manderine Duck or not..?
The twigs of reed make a nice ripple reflection in the water and the Duck just look great.

Thanks Fons,

The pintail is quite common in Sweden but it is quite hard to get close because it breeds in very wet lands. I don't think it is more related to the mandarin duck than other ducks.

Good picture, very sharp. This bird can also be find in Holland. We call it pijlstaart.
