This female American wood duck (Aix sponsa is the mate of the drake I showed in this picture

I think she deserves to be displayed here as well although her plumage isn't as amgnificent as her drake's. In fact, the tiny details as well as the camouflage capabilities of the female duck plumages are very fascinating.

Well Jens this female deserves for sure a place on MO.
The feathers may not look as beautiful as her mate but still it is a beautiful Duck....
This picture is very nice.
A little minus maybe is that the reflection is cut of .
When it is cropped you could easely fix it.

Sorry, I overlooked the reflection and made a bad composition during taking of this photo. This is the full image - just resized - can't crop to make it better.
