Taken just before totality at ~3.20 AM on October 28 through an Optolyth APO 100 spotting scope with a home-made eyepiece (the same achromatic triplet as I use for my extreme macro shots).

Hi Jens I like the picture very much - I didn't get to see it myself- so it's nice you shared it with the rest of us.

Great shot, Jens !

Was the camera on autofocus or manual focus ?

AF

Thanks Alfred,

as long as the moon wasn't totally shadoweded by the earth, I prefocussed with the scope and let the AF do the fine tweaking. After the moon entered the penumbra, it wasn't possible anymore. I had to tweak the focus using the enlarged view (half-press shutter button and simultaneously press the 'Quick view* button) and doing the adjustment on the scope (faster).

Cheers, Jens.
